Father's Day is buoyant for The Perfume Shop

The Perfume Shop, which says it’s the UK’s largest specialist fragrance retailer, has seen strong sales around one of the year’s key gifting days — Father’s Day —  with the company reporting a sales jump and high demand for big-name brands in the past fortnight.

On Monday it said it sold a record 224,000 bottles over 14 days in the run-up to 18 June. That means roughly 11 bottles sold every minute, “as perfume continues to prove itself to be an extremely popular gift choice at this time of year”.

It added that Dior Sauvage, Prada Luna Rossa Ocean and Bleu de Chanel — which have benefited from major ad spend in recent weeks — were among the most popular fragrance choices this Father’s Day. In-store and online retail sales were also boosted 9.1% during the month leading up to Father’s Day compared to the same period in 2022.

The company believes it was helped by its add-on services with over 2,043 bottles engraved and 36,296 personalised ribbons sold during this month.

Such services are a key feature of its stores and the company only last week opened a new location in Bradford, Northern England, that it said focused on experiences and extras as much as on products.
