It was only the second annual Thomas Burberry Prize given by the brand and the company said it reflects its “continued commitment to supporting the next generation of British creatives in contemporary arts and culture”.

Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee and entrepreneur and creative Grace Ladoja chose the winner who will receive a grant of £20,000 to support their artistic practice.

The theme of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition is ‘Only Connect’ and Wilkinson showcased ‘Washing Machine 2’.

The company and the Royal Academy have had an ongoing relationship and this is the third year in which Burberry has been an official supporter of the Summer Exhibition Preview Party.

And it has also announced the launch of an RA Schools Scholarship Grant and Bursary, which will offer one student from the RA Schools financial support with their tuition as well as the cost of living in London.
